ABSTRACT

Donald Trump’s unexpected, and perhaps spurious, victory was a blow for affirmative action. While Clinton, Obama and even George W. Bush supported a multicultural and multiracial society, as well as the rights of women, Trump came into office riding a wave of white male backlash against the growing influence of women and minorities in government and the private sector. His plans for affirmative action have taken a back seat to many other controversies and crises, mostly self-created. This chapter discusses affirmative action under an administration that is committed to fighting diversity.
