ABSTRACT
During the first sessions of the seminar there have been presentations about the social systems and structures in the different Nordic countries. This part introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this part of the book. The part also presents some of the leading figures in the process of social dialogue at Community level. It discusses one of the most important elements of the social dialogue for the future. These issues, of course, are precisely the problems which are discussing during the course of the seminar. There is also one particular example which the Commission is endeavoring to promote again, with a view to improving efficiency – a matter on which proposals will shortly be submitted to the social partners and to governmental representatives. The Commission only offers technical support, respecting fully the autonomy of the social partners.
