ABSTRACT

There are undoubtedly tremendous differences amongst the Nordic countries – just as it would be true to say for the rest of the European countries that the differences between them are enormous. The fact that the differences are enormous in Europe is, of course, highly significant, because commisssion are attempting to create a European social dialogue. The European -level publication meets the mandate which has been given to Union of Industrial and Employers' Confederations of Europe (UNICE), so that commisssion can negotiate on behalf of their member federations at European level. For those purposes the European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC) has the same mandate. UNICE are successful in reaching an agreement, then there will also be possibilities for an agreement to be reached for dialogue in individual sectors. UNICE will work hard towards making those new procedures that commisssion were granted in the Maastricht Protocol and Agreement on Social Policy function effectively.
