Mathematical models of dynamic systems were presented in Chapters 5 through 7, and several forms of system model representations were thoroughly covered in Chapter 4. In this chapter, we present the transient response and frequency response analysis of dynamic systems. Methods to find the solution of the state equation in closed form will also be discussed. For the most part, linear dynamic systems are considered in this chapter. Response of nonlinear systems by using MATLAB® and Simulink® is presented in the final section of the chapter.
