ABSTRACT

Faridabad has made exceptional progress in agricultural sector and lies at the heart of the Green Revolution belt of India, along with industrial development. Uncha Gaon is situated approximately 4.3 kms South East of Faridabad old industrial area and 1.34 from Ballabgarh industrial area. It came under the Faridabad Nagapalika (Municipality) in 1985, the year in which land was acquired by Haryana Urban Development Authority for the Ballabgarh residential complex. The exact livelihood structure of Uncha Gaon in 1990s consists of 80 per cent agriculturists; 60 per cent milk vendors; 7 per cent private small businessmen and petty traders; 2 per cent Government employees and 5 per cent labourers. The cropping pattern of Uncha Gaon is fairly straight forward: a variety of vegetables, jowar and wheat are grown. Thus yield increase in Uncha Gaon was responding, as elsewhere, to change in technology and to the price incentives offered by government of India.
