It discusses the rise of diversity management in the US, and the economy needs for skilled individuals. Diversity management emerged in the US in the early 1980s, and now many organisations encourage diversity management because of its recognition as a tool for proactive intervention to attain equal treatment of employees, irrespective of race, gender and ethnicity. In regard to diversity management in the US public sector, data from the 2013 Federal Employee Viewpoint Survey showed that diversity management relates to organisational fairness in the federal workplace. Female employees in federal agencies believe that, if diversity management is controlled, they will be treated more fairly than males in the organisation, even if they are under the impression that the organisation is unfair. Multiculturalism in Australia has affected the workplace, where people of different cultural backgrounds are employed, and has brought benefits to organisations.
