ABSTRACT
In the social debate on the position of immigrants in the Netherlands cultural integra tion plays an important part. Some people argue that in order to achieve an equal position the members of ethnic minorities should adjust to the norms and values of the host country, while others see the distinct cultural habits, norms and values of ethnic minorities as enriching our culture and presenting no hindrance to their social integra tion.
