ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses upon vote shares for PAN, PRI and other parties in 1964 (“initial conditions”) and in 2000 (“ending conditions”) in presidential, senatorial and representative elections. The purpose is to isolate the factors that may have contributed to spatial variations in vote shares, to determine whether there may be spatial autocorrelations, and to gain some understanding of the radical shifts in voting patterns and party support that have unfolded in the 1964-2000 time span.
