ABSTRACT

The final chapter brings together the practices discussed in each of the prior chapters and provides a map for educators that illustrates key markers en route to excellent results for Latino students. A special effort is made to demonstrate the relationship between the elements of the instructional system that lead to high achievement for their Latino students. Key principles and practices that are worthy of attention and emulation are described in detail. They include: a clear and important purpose guides their work; building relationships among staff and students in a priority; opportunities for students are rich and extensive; a coherent school design supports teachers and students to achieve their goals; and there is shared ownership and leadership to accomplish the work.
