ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on what is involved in realizing partnerships which widen the network of the person experiencing mental health-substance use problems and the professional from a 'dual' to a so-called 'triadic' way of working. In a 'triad' relationship the individual, family and professional(s) work together. It is substantiated that this is of great importance to enhance the recovery and social participation of the individual in mental health- substance use care. The chapter discusses ethical dilemmas encountered in the triadic cooperation from different perspectives. It refers to the knowledge and experience of peer-experts and professionals who have a broad experience in this field of cooperation. At times when people for a longer or shorter time cannot live independently because their health does not allow this, family support is essential. It is a moral right, in these moments of desperation, to meet people who take their relative by the hand and get back together to find the way to recovery.
