ABSTRACT

The Soviet society has changed significantly since the Stalinist period, setting it apart from the totalitarian model; the type of relations between the licit authority and the everyday lives of ordinary people has not changed greatly to date. The imposed and restrictive character of the licit authority creates a link between the organization of the penal society and that of the Soviet society. Regardless of which term comes to mind as soon as the historical development of Southern Italy is mentioned, the Mafia, the camorra, the 'ndrangheta or even amoral familism, it is associated with the image of the local society, hostile to the outside world. The modern concept of private space that is separate from public space is foreign to the traditional Sicilian society. Traditional society in Southern Italy is organized exactly as the ideal 'small' society. The model for relations between the State and society observed today is not an invention of the Soviet period.
