ABSTRACT

‘Observing’ or ‘visiting’ applies to lessons as well as to other occasions when you and your colleagues open your work to view and comment in order to develop your teaching and your pupils’ learning. This chapter gives examples of different kinds of lesson visiting and their potential benefits. A sample protocol is given, referring to boundaries and confidentiality; preparatory meeting; explicit agreements and arrangements; and post-event meeting, documentation and consequences. Prompts are given about how to evaluate and develop lesson visiting.
