ABSTRACT

Appraisal is defined as an official way of promoting professional, hence ­curriculum and school, development. It depends on cooperation between team leaders and teachers, teaching assistants or members of administrative or non-teaching staff. It provides a point of periodic, face-to-face contact and entails appraisers’ observing appraisees in action. In this chapter, principles and practices are recommended. Qualities and skills that appraisees and appraisers can use and develop are outlined.
