ABSTRACT

There are diverse software and deployment optimization solutions among the green by information technology (IT) strategies. One of the best ways IT applications can be used to enhance sustainability in the green supply chain management (GSCM) is through the concept of the carbon footprint. To reduce the size of carbon footprints, one of the most important green by IT applications may be green transport. The transport industry provides important cooperative network services to other industries. All innovative efforts from smart grid to super grid to picogrid in Korea have been supported directly and/or indirectly by Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO), the largest public company for electricity power generation. Based on the successful operation of the pilot project in Jeju Island, the Korean government has now selected eight smart city candidates in which to apply the business models nationwide. Unfortunately, the northeast Asian countries are not involved in any big super-grid projects yet.
