ABSTRACT
The Prologue offers a prefatory reading of the animation of a woman-for-the man in Genesis 2. In critical conversation with Jewish and Christian readings of the story, it argues that the biblical text attributes the fashioning of the world’s first idol, in the form of a specificatory patriarchal idea of woman, to God.
