ABSTRACT

This chapter provides an overview of the approach taken to the multi-year Reporting Islam Project. It details the framework that underpinned the project and the practical approach taken to the development of the resources and training packages that were produced as part of this project. The chapter explains that the project was also a form of action research involving data gathering as part of the training provided to end-users. It also explains how the approach to data gathering developed as the project progressed. It briefly outlines some of the key findings from the analysis of the data gathered as part of Stage Three of the project, from a series of training sessions with journalists, journalism educators and students.
