ABSTRACT

Chapter 10 looks at disgust, another relatively neglected emotion. Disgust, however, does appear to be significant in a number of different presenting problems, most specifically fears around spiders, blood injury, and contamination based obsessive compulsive problems. This chapter covers what causes disgust, what it is, and its function. It then covers the difficulties sometimes seen with disgust and looks at how treatment approaches can be adapted to better tackle feelings of disgust.
