ABSTRACT
The purpose of this chapter is to discuss electoral politics and corruption under military rule in Bangladesh. It analyses elections organised by the military regimes of Zia and Ershad, particularly their use of elections in the process of legitimising their rules. Finally, it estimates the degree of corruption in different elections and discusses how military rule and corruption affected the process of démocratisation.
