ABSTRACT
Hypertensive disorders during pregnancy and gestational diabetes mellitus are two of the most common pregnancy complications encountered by obstetricians. Both derive from inapropriate adaptation of the female body to the pregnant state. While these pregnancy complications have defenite impact on immediate pregnancy outcome, both also share some prognostic elements for long-term maternal health. This chapter discusses crucial information regarding the effects of common pregnancy complications and their role in predicting future morbidity for women following childbirth.
