ABSTRACT

Solid biomass is represented in particular by wood waste, agricultural waste, energy willow, household waste and some energy crops.

The arguments favoring the use of biomass energy are related to both environmental and a socio-economic contribution, by increasing employment and stabilizing the labor force in some agricultural areas.

Finding alterative solutions for energy uses is a problem that is increasing, wood being less accessible. In Romania, efforts are made in order to cultivate plats crops with massive growth, energy willow and sorghum.

In order to increase the thermal power of recovery plants for the field of electricity production, possibly with co-generation, it is necessary to use chopped solid biomass through burning in an air current similar to pulverized coal burning.
