ABSTRACT

This chapter describes a brief review of scientific publications dealing with industrial relations in the context of the European process of integration is given. It discusses the selected controversial opinions are: Literature dealing with actors and institutional conditions, Literature dealing with the monetary union and wage policy and Literature dealing with advantages and disadvantages of the European IR-model. European social relations and a European welfare state lie outside of the possible outcomes of integration. The British voluntarism will successfully win through against continental European corporatism. “The Euro model of company orientation”, which - according to Keller - “fits to the European minimal state” hurts on massive arguments by the author. The advantages of the studies are that because of H.-W. Platzer’s deep knowledge of cultural and structural problems of the European integration he is able to classify the development of union-wide labour policy and industrial relations and to put it into the historical process.
