ABSTRACT
Agriculture is a significant form of land use with environmental impact on forests, including losses of biodiversity and habitat principally due to forest fragmentation. As Wood (1993) noted, in spite of the apparent economic advantages of expanding agriculture into forest areas, the policy of converting forests in developing countries to farmlands has been repeatedly questioned.
