ABSTRACT

As a conclusion for Part V of this book, it is clear there is no single cornered way to emphasize the contribution of physiologists, biomechanists and psychologists in the enhancement of the gymnasts’ performance. Multiple examples have been shown throughout this part; scientists alone or together with other contributors have been and remain committed to the development of many related aspects of practices that have directly and/or indirectly affected gymnasts’ performance. Equipment engineering, model designing, medical instrumentations, testing theoretical to artificial 3D models, better physiological understanding together with the psychological factors and many more examples have marked this discipline in particular during the last 30 years. The proofs are obvious; just take a look at an international competition video from the late 1980s compared to one from the present day. You would not only witness the performance development but also the technology that accompanies all the show.
