ABSTRACT

Angular kinematics follows many of the conventions as linear kinematics. However, angular kinematics often involves several aspects of physical laws occurring simultaneously. Different sports describe angular movement using terminology that fits sporting contexts and usually has origins in long traditions. Although it is perfectly acceptable to talk about angular motion in terms of degrees, the more common approach used in biomechanics is to refer to angular motion in terms of radians. Angular speed and angular velocity are terms used similar to their linear counterparts. Angular acceleration works in the same way as linear acceleration. Angular acceleration is the rate at which angular velocity changes with respect to time. Or, angular acceleration is the final angular velocity minus the initial angular velocity per unit of time. Since angular velocity, acceleration and other quantities is vector quantities, the right-hand thumb rule can be applied to all of these.
