ABSTRACT

If someone asked me, ‘What do you value most about the way that you coach?’ it would be using imagery and imagination – through metaphor, story, myth, poetry – to access the deeper psychological layers of the client’s experience. For example, I work with reflective images that arise out of the dynamic field of coaching and offer them for the client to consider. In other words I pay attention to imagery that has arisen for the client, or offer images arising from my own present experience, that I believe will mirror the client’s experience.
