ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the events abroad which were responsible for making the working-class revolution in Russia comparatively easy to accomplish, for helping the Russian proletariat to break the chains of imperialism and thus to overthrow the power of the bourgeoisie. But, in addition to these conditions abroad, the October revolution was further aided to its victorious issue by certain circumstances at home. The chapter also discusses the circumstances which at home and abroad were responsible for facilitating the victory of the October revolution. Nevertheless, such disadvantages serve merely to emphasise the importance of the special situation at home and abroad at the outbreak of the October revolution. The concrete and exceptionally original situation of affairs in 1917 made it easy for Russia to start the revolution; but to continue and complete the revolution will be a far harder task for Russia than for any other European country.
