ABSTRACT
The fundamental task is to help the workers and peasants of the republics to take a hand in the establishment of socialism in our land; and (conforming to the special circumstances of life in each republic) to create and develop conditions which will quicken this movement of participation. This chapter presents some tasks that are, therefore, to be immediately undertaken by all active workers in the Soviet East. The accomplishment of these tasks will greatly facilitate the work of socialist construction in the Soviet republics of the East. Consequently, the duty of the University of the Peoples of the East in regard to the eastern republics is to train its students in such a way as to ensure their maximum efficiency in carrying to a successful issue the tasks. The University cannot cut itself off from everyday life. It is not and must not be allowed to become an institution standing aloof from common experience.
