ABSTRACT
This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in this book. The book attempts a reading that is enriched by the psychoanalytic perspective not to interpret the texts – in fact it is a sort of counter-interpretation, as understood by Susan Sontag – but to explore other summits, to sound the depths the narration has evoked in the author but has not explicitly revealed, unsaturated hypotheses on today's much changed and overturned conjugal microcosm. Although the narratives often alternate both points of view – as in Gone Girl and The Silent Wife – on the whole it is the female narrator that prevails. For female authors, perhaps even unknowingly, it is easier to make the female characters speak. The book concludes with some hypotheses that weave the profound psychic structures with the role of cultural changes.
