ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on the impact of current parenting practices and people's ability to co-parent successfully with their partner. The relationships with the primarily caregivers, whether that is mom and dad, two moms, two dads or any other combination, influence how one imagine ourselves to be as a parent. The relationship between child and each of their parents may be the most important relationship of their life. The child made decisions about the roles of mothers and fathers based on their own childhood experiences with their parents, and those early decisions determine the kind of mother or father one hope to be and the kind of mother or father want their partner to be for their children. Being raised by a single mom means watching her make every decision on her own and either feel good about it or question every parenting decision she made.
