ABSTRACT

Leadership continues to evolve over time. It is one of those powerful, flexible concepts that adapt to the spirit of time. While some sources claim that leadership is a relationship with others, we believe that leadership is, first and foremost, a relationship with the self. This chapter will first discuss some important elements of self-leadership, after which it will present some of the leadership styles that have been emerging in recent decades as a result of the growing awareness of compassionate progress and sustainability of human dignity as well as environmental wellbeing. The global context and cross-cultural issues will be observed within the discussion.
