ABSTRACT

The long-term solution to eradicating extreme groups and the threat of radicalisation is to foster a sense of belonging. This can be achieved by valuing the unique child and supporting positive relationships in the setting. Practitioners have the responsibility and duty to provide an enabling and welcoming environment that has opportunities for the child to learn about the local community and wider world, through the prime and specific areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage, to develop a good self-worth and to value and respect each other. At the heart of this practice, the practitioner should hold the belief that every child is unique, and needs to be loved and cared for. The role of the practitioner is also to support positive relationships and make bonds with families, embracing their culture and traditions. British Values are at the core of practice, threading everything together.
