ABSTRACT

The article presents the results of studies on hydrometallurgical processing of dumps and tails of leaching from Balkhash region, Kazakhstan by leaching with hydrochloric acid both with and without an oxidizer, followed by refining and concentrating copper by liquid extraction. The extraction of copper from the dumps into the solution by acid leaching without an oxidizer is 34%, from the tails –29%. The extraction of copper during leaching of the samples in the presence of an oxidizer (hydrogen peroxide) amounted to 75% from the dumps, and 47% from the leaching tails. The refining and concentration of copper from the productive hydrochloric acid solutions was carried out by extraction using LIX9858 NSC and ACORGA ORT5510 extractants followed by sulfuric acid re-extraction. The throughout extraction of copper from the dumps and tails of leaching into the production solution was from 74 to 80%.
