ABSTRACT

This introduction presents an overview of key concepts discussed in subsequent chapters of this book. The book talks about feminist methodology in large part focuses specifically on the experience of women and the creation of female subjects across disciplinary and thematic imaginings. It attempts to unpack and problematize the ways in which women/female subjects are positioned in social research and the humanities - which, rather than disintegrating into a gender galaxy in an extraordinarily affirming moment, is in fact getting crystallized into more rigid segregations and stereotypes, enforced through cumulative violence - caste, state, community and armies working in close concert. The book also focuses on feminist methodologies crystallized around our discussions on pedagogic practice and experience in classrooms across disciplines - economics, sociology, development studies, gender studies, disability studies and law, among others - and our learnings from feminist research and writing in other disciplines and locales.
