ABSTRACT

Reliability Centered Maintenance-Reengineered (RCM-R®) is a very effective process for determining maintenance tasks for critical physical assets, particularly in the maintenance and operational phase of their life cycle. RCM-R® analysis, being a maintenance and asset management tool, also needs specific and reliable data throughout its ten phases to render optimum value to the organization implementing it. In general, the RCM-R® process requires operational, technical, reliability, maintenance-related, failure, material, financial, safety, and environmental data, which is analyzed for decision-making purposes. Work orders are a source of valuable data for RCM-R® and other maintenance management tools and processes. Therefore, the same rule regarding data integrity applies to the information drawn from work orders for reliability improvement and analysis of critical assets. An asset criticality analysis is an assessment tool to evaluate how asset failures may impact organization objectives.
