ABSTRACT

Reliability Centered Maintenance-Reengineered (RCM-R®) is a consensus-driven process in which multidisciplinary teams produce strategies for managing failure consequences. The whole RCM-R® process is consensus driven, even if the initiative to implement it first came from the maintenance department. The step-by-step approach taken in RCM-R® helps practitioners to organize projects properly for attaining the expected goals. Brainstorming can be used as a stand-alone technique or in combination with other risk assessment methods to encourage imaginative thinking at any stage of a risk management process and at any stage of the life cycle of assets. It may also be used for high-level discussions where issues are identified, or for more detailed discussions such as failure mode identification. RCM-R® provides the means to process that valuable individual knowledge in an organized way, resulting in the identification of appropriate consequence management strategies.
