ABSTRACT

Water, being the limited resource, its efficient use is essential in order to increase agricultural production per unit volume of water and per unit area of crop land. Due to increase in population, the competition of limited water resources for domestic, industrial, and agricultural needs is increasing considerably. The aim of irrigation scheduling is to increase efficiencies by applying the exact amount of water needed to replenish the soil moisture to the desired level. Surface irrigation is the most common method for field/vegetable/ fruit crops and flower. The irrigation is a method of applying water to the land surface. Irrigation water may be applied to crops by flooding it on the field surface, by applying it beneath the ground surface, by spraying it under pressure or by applying it in drops near the root zones. Irrigation scheduling includes when and how much water to apply to the crop.
