ABSTRACT

This concluding chapter first aims to summarize the key ideas presented in this book. The goal is to highlight the unique perspective and contribution of this book to digital governance and its management. More importantly, this chapter will identify and describe the trends of digital governance over the next three to five years. The objective is to guide the reader into developing a forward-looking perspective on building relevant knowledge and capacity. These trends are enhanced data and cyberinfrastructure, personalized public information and services, open data and governance, innovation, and protection of digital security and privacy. The final part of this chapter outlines the strategies for digital governance in the 21st century in correspondence to these major trends. It offers strategies and specific management practices for leveraging information and communication technology (ICT) to advance public values and provide better public service.
