ABSTRACT

This chapter describes the pioneering work of Bible Women in Bulgaria and Italy. These indigenous women in both nations engaged in a holistic evangelistic ministry by reading the Bible, distributing Christian literature, engaging in rudimentary education with children, and responding to the needs of women and children as they arose organically. Following a general introduction to this work of the Bible Women, the essay examines the lives of these women, first, in Bulgaria in a context dominated by the Orthodox tradition, and then in Catholic-dominated Italy.
