ABSTRACT

Acts of sexual violence towards children and adults remain a pervasive feature of modern society. Despite being prohibited by law the number of sexually violent crimes, many of which go unreported, continues to rise. This chapter considers the effectiveness of a range of measures intended to reduce sexual violence across a range of settings. The inescapable prevalence of sexually violent behaviour is illustrated by it being found in places such as schools and churches. While some successful initiatives have reduced levels of violence, a great deal remains to be done.
