Could we do better?
The topics covered in the previous chapters have raised several issues which merit closer discussion. These issues include a look at strategies that aim to introduce change at a societal, rather than individual, level. These are strategies which include curtailing the availability of alcohol and regulating access to weapons. There are two critical issues with respect to evidence-based treatment of interpersonal violence: (1) the psychological models which inform the mode and delivery of treatment; (2) the research designs by which the treatment outcome evidence is gathered and analysed to allow the evidence-base to grow.
