ABSTRACT
The corrosion of metal substrates is often dominated by electrochemical reactions. The electrochemical principles of corrosion could be subdivided into the thermodynamic and the kinetic aspect. A very short introduction in both aspects is given below. Only the most important basics and fundamental equations are presented, necessary for the discussion of the analytical methods.
