ABSTRACT

Time management is one of the critical skills that can either make or break you; poor time management can lead to poor productivity, which leads to increased stress and poor health. College students, with newfound freedom and flexibility, often struggle with time management as they navigate an environment with much less teacher control than the typical K-12 classroom. Students do not typically master the skill of telling time until the second grade, so younger students should focus only on activity completion, further solidifying the executive function skills of initiating and persisting in a task, rather than the actual time each took. If a teacher hands out papers or other instructional resources and some students do not receive them, it is the teacher's fault. The Great Student Rubric is a powerful structure intended to focus students on behaviors, work habits, and characteristics that will help them excel academically.
