ABSTRACT

Learning eventually outfits one to carry out a plan of action, achieve goals, and make a difference. Creativity is the generation of new ideas and processes, imagining what does not yet exist in your worldview. It is a mental process of connecting things in new ways, of synthesizing. The world is full of possibilities, and creative people tap into that by observing everything around them. Highly creative people generate possibilities, making connections among the known to create the unknown. This requires a combination of ample experiences and the ability to make those connections. Mindfulness meditation is becoming popular in schools everywhere. Habits are controlled, in part, by the prefrontal cortex: the command center for executive function. Children often come to school leading with creativity and curiosity; schools work hard to build their skills for planning, inhibitory control, self-awareness, and reasoning.
