ABSTRACT

It is important that we protect ourself when online in any situation. Somewhere people would have a reasonable expectation of privacy, such as toilet facilities, or hospital or a hospice. A general view of a beach may be one thing. Showing semi-naked sunbathers, particularly if they are children, is another. We can set up a false location for our Scopes, so we are still featured on the Map page, but our security is not compromised. Some live-streams have been frankly horrific: rape, torture, death, suicide, threats, bullying and so on. The app companies have on occasion been slow to remove such videos. Sometimes they have deleted posts which were innocuous while leaving other more violent streams online. It's understood that Facebook is working on artificial intelligence to automatically detect and flag offensive content in a live-stream. Our privacy can also be compromised by what we say or show.
