ABSTRACT

In his several years as a voice and presentation coach for the BBC, the author has developed a series of techniques to help people perform better. This chapter provides lots of help to overcome the nerves and the self-consciousness. Choose talent who are not only prepared to handle any issues when live-streaming, but also have the ability to interact with the viewers. We will be less nervous if we have prepared our content. We don't need to memorise our entire show but have some notes to hand: our opening, key points and conclusion. People want to be treated as individuals, so be personal by welcoming viewers by name, or reacting to individual comments. If we feel awkward presenting alone, we could buddy up with someone else. Some people, quite understandably, suffer from 'analysis paralysis': they think so long and hard about getting onto Facebook Live or Twitter Go Live/Periscope that they never actually do it.
