ABSTRACT

Our shows may become so popular that we have lots of viewers making lots of comments, perhaps at the same time. Responding to those as they fly up the screen can be a challenge for a single-person production. Blocking people who are deliberately disrupting or dominating the stream just adds to our headache. So, we need a plan for: promotion; moderation; and discussion and conversations with our viewers. If we have a cameraperson, they see the screen, but only they see the messages. So they could block any awkward viewers. Or we could have another person (a 'producer' or someone from our marketing or social media team) who watches our show and makes notes of most relevant messages and passes them to us on paper or via another app. Brand guidelines that we set up may dictate how our producer responds to comments in the stream.
