ABSTRACT

Sumatra. The location of these earthquakes adds more data to the theory (Wiens D.A. et al, 1986) that the Indo-Australian Plate may be breaking up (Figure 3) (Shen H., 2012).

The second big earthquake occurred on the western side of the Europe-Asian plate in Haiti on January 12, 2010 with a magnitude of 7.0 (NYT, 2010). This earthquake was the result of tension from the Caribbean and North American plates. It changed the stiffness conditions for both the western side of Africa and the Eurasian plates.
