ABSTRACT

This introductory chapter provides context and rationale for the development of the model of Developmental Couple Therapy for Complex Trauma. Through the personal process of understanding and resolving trauma in her own attachment relationships and the insights gained through couple therapy research with trauma survivors and extensive clinical practice, the author illustrates the rationale for why this manual is needed and how it can be best used to address the issues faced by therapists when engaging in couple therapy involving complex trauma.
