ABSTRACT
This participatory approach becomes Abruzzini’s favorite aspect of filmmaking, an approach that allows for the process of finding the story more important than forcing a result from the story. She looks forward to waking up on a Saturday and seeing the world through a lens and interacting with people. Filmmaking for her is about creating “meaningful connections with my subjects,” she says. “It’s about questioning my way of telling stories. Ultimately, by enabling people to present themselves, I hope to encourage a more honest and inclusive building of knowledge.” In addition, she likes the moment in postproduction when the footage begins to look like a film and how the “images acquire different meanings depending on their placement in the edit.”
