ABSTRACT
The ambition for the present and following chapters is to bring together bits and pieces of empirical information, theoretical fragments in an effort to represent the picture of the positive and/or the definable extent of an alternative peripheral/rural logic. Alternatively, stated in a complementary and proactive manner, whatever relevant empirical findings that qualify and dispute the present paradigm. In this chapter there is a focus on geographies in terms of different spatial dimensions, venturing into aspects of culture and identities. Furthermore, the chapter penetrates of those aspects of demography that seem most potent in the peripheral development.
